what I spent my money on this month
I want to get a little bit more insight in what I spend my money on. February has been a month with big spendings. And I think it's interesting to see where my money goes, in the expensive and even in the less expensive months. Just to keep track a little bit.
What I'm not listing on here is the money I've spent on our monthly fixed costs like food, house bills (electronic and water) and that sort of thing. Only the 'extras'.
So, here goes... this is my true spending this month, unfiltered.
what I spent my money on in February
a gift | money spent: 29It was my dads birthday this month, so the first thing I bought was a present. My mom told me he wanted to have a professional pizza cutter, so we bought him a real good one!
e.l.f. cosmetics | money spent: 19
I blogged before about my last try to balance my rosacea skin, so I bought a CC cream from e.l.f. cosmetics. I've tried it and it wasn't a success at all. So sadly this was a waste of money. But without trying you don't know I guess.
supplements | money spent: 97 (discount price, for 3 months)
It's not often I spend quite some money on supplements. I usually only use a good multivitamin supplement. But in my journey for more balanced skin and less hormonal fluctuations (hello PMS, I'm talking about you!), I bought two supplements this month.
fleece jackets | money spent: 55
The daughter and I needed fleece jackets. We could use them for our holiday in Turkey and also at home for the less cold days. So I turned to Vinted and found some really good ones from The North Face and Jack Wolfskin.
smart games & puzzles | money spent: 9 & 10
For the daughter I bought 2 new smart games: red riding hood and squirrels go nuts!, both on Vinted. We saw the red riding hood game at a friends house and I was directly intrigued. How cool are kids toys these days!
The daughter loves to puzzle a lot. We love Djeco puzzles, because we can make the 100-250 piece puzzles together. This month I found 2 really nice ones on Vinted also, this one and this one.
exercise bike | money spent:
Now onto the two largest expenses of the month. One of them was definitely the exercise bike. It was recommended by my physiotherapist to start biking 30 minutes everyday for my runners knee. I weighed all the options and it made the most sense to buy a bike and put it in our living room. Now that it's here, I will probably use it even after my recovery. It feels good to bike everyday and keep my body moving, even if it's 'just half an hour'. I feel that my body needs movement a lot more than it used to!
hiking shoes | money spent:
This was an expense that was a bit unforeseen. I set myself the goal to go hiking more. This month I had to quit my qi gong practice and trampoline jumping. So I felt my body was a bit lost without my regular moving routine. When I went on my first hike, I noticed my hiking shoes were quite worn out. Not that strange after all those years... I bought them in 2019 and trained months with them for a marathon hike. So it was time for new ones and I was lucky I found them on sale even!
conclusion
Oof, I've spent quite some money this month! But if I look at the list, it's mostly on things that will help me with getting more healthy. And to be honest.. I'd rather spend my money on those things than on unhealthy things ;)I feel like I didn't have that much unnecessary things on my list. If I'm being really honest, I had some unhealthy spending in the past. That's one of the reasons I try to be mindful about what I spend my money on. The last years I'm a lot better at not buying things I don't need. I also feel like I don't fall for hypes or the newest shiny thing on the market. I know the big expenses will not repeat again next month, those were circumstantial expenses. So I'm content with my spendings this month.
That was my list for this month. Maybe next month I will be back with a new list! I like that it makes me feel a bit more accountable, because I know I will post it online in the big world wide web ; )
