week #52
/ the week started with the daughter's first day of Christmas break. the husband had his last day of work, so we made a cozy day just the two of us. we watched a Christmas movie (the boss baby: christmas bonus), baked Christmas cookies and went to the playground.
/ in the garden was a pile of garbage bags waiting to go to the recycling center. old clutter that came out of the house to throw away. on Tuesday we found the time to cross this Christmas break goal off the list, and the world felt a little lighter!
/ last week I wrote about my indecision about keeping or deleting my linocut blog. I've come to the decision this week, that from now on I will just have 1 blog for everything: my bear blog! I started transferring everything and added a garden page.
/ I had some time to myself and finally managed to make another linocut! happy 2026: check it out.
/ new things on the blog: I added two new ways of reading my blog: show list of all posts & show full posts.
/ on Wednesday I worked my last Christmas shift. I had a fun day with my colleagues, made some Christmas bouquets and we exchanged the yearly Christmas gifts.
/ after work I was picked up by the husband and daughter, and we drove directly to his family for our yearly tradition: Christmas Eve raclette. like every year, we stayed the night.
/ on the first Christmas day, more family came to visit. we had a nice day catching up with everyone. uncle chef cooked us a lovely meal and I ate things that I’d never tried before (like salsify). it was delicious!
/ we watched 'wer wird millionär?' in the evening. I always like watching quizzes on tv, especially on festive days with family.
/ on the second Christmas day we drove to my family for the third lovely Christmas day and meal. here the tradition is to eat ‘aardappelkroketjes’ (potato croquettes). day 3 of looking 20+ weeks pregnant after dinner ; )
/ the daughter got lovely gifts from Santa. she was really happy with all of them! during this period of the year I often think back to my own childhood, how we celebrated and the people that are not here anymore.
/ visiting family with Christmas equals sitting a lot. not really great for my body (and my head). I was happy that I managed to do 2 qi gong practices and meditated before bed 2 times this week. better than nothing.
/ on Saturday we went to the swimming pool. it was not busy at all! guess most people were still visiting family? I was happy to move after 3 days of mostly sitting. but the swim knocked me out. I was so exhausted, I had to lie down when we got home...
/ the husband and daughter did our weekend movie (Pipi Longstockings) without me because of the above. they tried the new popcorn maker the daughter got for Christmas. she was over the moon with the machine, how the corn popped and the amount of popcorn that came out!
/ on Sunday we celebrated our last Christmas day at home, just the three of us. with the last small pile of gifts.
/ I had some time to rearrange my blog and I started a new lino! it’s a birthday card for the daughter. I hope I get to finish it on time.
