week #5
/ the week started with an appointment at my general practitioner. he advised me to make an x-ray of my knee and see a physiotherapist. when I got home I directly made the appointments.
/ sometimes I have these random ideas that just pop in my head. on Monday that was getting the trampoline out of the shed. I hadn't jumped for years, and made my first 10 min jump since forever. I started slow with just hopping to get used to it again. and will work my way up to jumping for 30 minutes straight. I will try to add it to my weekly routine.
/ in the first qi gong practice of the week we focussed on the acupressure point Zusanli (ST36). it regulates the stomach. you can see here where that is in the body. coincidentally, that is precisely the spot where my knees are always hurting.
/ the daughter needed new clothes and I was glad I directly found some cute ones. I’m trying to savor these times with super cute and happy clothing, because the older they get, the more boring the clothing gets.
/ I also unexpectedly found a very cool birthday gift for the husband on Vinted! didn’t hesitate to order because it’s something I will not find anytime soon again. so I have to hide it somewhere until the end of March!
/ Tuesday was the day of the x-ray. it was my first time at this particular diagnostics centre. and I was happy I could reach it easily by public transport. the waiting took longer that the actual photos itself. the lady that took the x-ray asked after picture 1 if I had previous injury on my knee. I told her my tibia plateau got a crack from an incident 20 years ago. she looked as if she wanted to say something about it? I know only a radiologist is allowed to give a diagnosis, so I still have to be patient for the results.
/ on our way to school we got treated to the most bright pink and orange sky. it was so beautiful!
/ when I came home I initially thought ‘yes, some hours to myself’ - the daughter went on a playdate directly from school, so I didn't have to pick her up. so I wanted to do something productive. make a lino for example. but it got clear around lunchtime that I felt so drained I couldn't do a lot anymore. so the rest of the afternoon I binged younger.
/ later in the day it got clear why I felt so drained. I was developing a soar throat. and my nose started to clog up. I did a slow qi gong lesson with the emphasis on clearing the lymphs.
/ the night was not so great. my lower back was hurting and the stuffed nose and sore throat made the falling asleep harder. it was a restless night.
/ Wednesday morning I told myself to do everything I could to prevent my throat and nose to get worse. I did some light qi gong exercises to strengthen my immune system. and I tried something I learned from TCM (traditional Chinese medicine); gargling with salt water to rinse out and flush away any viruses building up.
/ my ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ blog suddenly didn’t take my code for the photo a day page anymore, so I had to come up with another idea. I made a separate blog for it and integrated it on here. it has a different design now, but works well again!
/ it was also time to delete Substack. I wanted to try it out to see for myself and build my own opinion about it. but somehow I wasn’t a big fan from the start. so it wasn’t a hard decision to cancel it.
/ work was busy on Thursday and Friday, so I completely forgot to call my doctor for the results of the x-ray. waiting until Monday now. but the good news is is, that my knees are aching a bit less this week.
/ after some weeks of carpooling to work, I went by bike again this week. was a bit disappointed to notice my brakes almost have to be replaced, when I had a big bike check-up just weeks ago and I biked literally 4 times after that... grrr ;)
/ it happened this week (and in total 2 times in the last 10 days), that a buzzard flew right in front of me while I was biking. he was 1 meter away max, so close! what an incredible animal! I've never seen one from this close! and it even happened 2 times, woah.
/ on Sunday we went swimming! the swimming itself was fun, but my knees were not so happy with it the rest if the day.
/ I got the results from the radiologist in the mail. no osteoarthritis! but it seems my patella is too high. something called patella alta. will hear what the physio can do to fix that next week…
/ Sunday afternoon was movie time with home made popcorn again. but I was so tired, I fell asleep after 5 min :’)
