week #31

➜ last Saturday we drove up North for a short family vacation and our week started on Monday still at the holiday park. we planned some fun things for this day, since this would be our last full day here.
➜ it was a bit cloudly with some small showers in between, but nonetheless a great day for our plan. we drove to park Hoge Veluwe and biked around here the whole day. they have these typical white bikes that you can use for free around the park.
➜ we first visited the kröller müller museum and started in the main building. D did a scavenger hunt and had to search for items in the Van Gogh paintings (very fun!).
➜ we did a route through the sculpture garden and rescued a bird that was stuck in one of the art pieces (the yellow box on the picture above). poor thing couldn’t get out and who knows how long it was stuck in there.
➜ I loved the park, the biking through the landscape and the wind that almost blew us off our bikes ;) and the feeling of freedom it gave me! I loved every second of this day!
➜ tuesday was our last day at the holiday park. we had to return our key already in the morning, so we said our cute tiny house goodbye. but we spent the rest of the day at the pool there still. it was 28 degrees this day, so a good choice to cool down a bit.
➜ I had a second phone call with D's after school daycare (at the swimming pool of all places)... and this time the conversation felt a bit more empathetic. I felt more supported and understood. so that was good! they were taking everything seriously and wanted to fix the situation.
➜ I decided to also call my family doctor to get a referral to a rheumatologist. the last few days the lumps on two of my fingers were rapidly growing. the pain in my fingers and wrists was also getting worse and I had morning stiffness all of a sudden. all signs that there's something happening. I would hear back from the doc soon.
➜ at the end of the afternoon we drove home and had dinner on the road. we got home around 8, showered D and put her in a fresh bed. the rest of the evening was mainly unpacking suitcases, washing clothes and relaxing with a tv show.
➜ for our short vacation I packed my hiking stuff, but I didn't go on a hike once. I was just so tired everyday that I couldn't bring myself to go. and I told myself that it's okay to let go of hiking a bit in the holiday season. there's time to get into it again when school starts and I have more room in my schedule.
➜ on Wednesday we had 1 whole family vacation day left before everyone had work and daycare again, and decided to do something fun. we visited the barefoot park that was on my list for a long time. it was 35 degrees, but most of the route was in the woods and there were several spots to get our legs in a river or pond, so great for cooling off. it was a great experience and D loved to get dirty in the mud (we all did!).
➜ I heard back from the doc and got a referral: the hospital would call soon to make an apointment with me (but it already said on the form that the waiting time usually is around 30-40 days). I was a little worried that the lumps and pain got worse so quickly. so I kept an eye on my hands every day and started to track all symptoms.
➜ on Thursday I had work again and realized it's just 4 more work days until our store holiday (2 weeks in August). yay!
➜ in the evening I made a new print: what if we had cities full of half timbered houses? with high skyscrapers, but half timbered?
➜ it was my mums birthday on Thursday and she invited us to have a pizza party on Friday evening after work.
➜ on Saturday I had a day at work that was quite painful again. my fingers were bothering me a lot again (pain, stiffness, swelling). ugh, the wait for an appointment with the rheumatologist is so long (30-days on average). I asked myself how I would have to survive that long? and decided to try and get an appointment with my family doctor to see if we can do something in the meantime.
➜ on Sunday we drove to the city to see the newest Paw Patrol Dino movie in the cinema. D was really looking forward to this and it was even fun for us adults! we had a drink after and had a stroll through the city.
