week #15

monday

➜ hello Easter Monday! everyone had a day off today, so we tried to make it a good one. after a small Easter breakfast at home, we drove to the indoor jumping park. when we arrived, we saw that the hall is closing for good the 8th of April. so sad! this was our last visit there...

➜ we booked for one hour and D had a lot of fun jumping on trampolines, running around and jumping into a pit filled with foam blocks. I had to jump with her, but after just being there for 10 min, my ankle started to ache. I didn't really notice anything happening with it, but it felt very sensitive. so I decided to be smart and stop jumping so I can hopefully keep doing my hike training. it was probably just my hypermobile joints again...

➜ we drove home to have lunch and relax a bit. and around 1 we got the buggy out of the shed and put our hiking shoes on. we walked to the yearly 'lammetjesdagen' at a farm a few towns over. lammetjesdagen mean: you can go cuddle the little lambs that were born this week on the farm. and if you win the lammetjes lottery, you can even give them a bottle of milk!

➜ D was first a bit scared to go into the stable where all the little lambs were lying and sleeping in the sun. so we first got us a drink from the farm shop and walked around a bit. when we got to the stable again, we went in and she had the best time! we cuddled some of the lambs and one even came to eat some hay.

➜ on our way back home we stopped at the holiday park to sit on the terrace in the sun a little bit. oh what a day! the sun was so good and it felt like we were on vacation with this extra family day and all these spontaneous outings!

➜ the rest of the day was for relaxing at home, cooking couscous, a bath for D and watching a series with the husband.

tuesday

➜ when I woke up I directly felt my ankle was going to be a problem today. as a kid I sprained my ankle quite regularly due to my hypermobile joints, but I couldn't remember the pain reaction starting so late after the incident. on Monday I walked the rest of the day and even did my Dr. Claire 45 min knee recovery exercises and that felt okay. today is a different story... a lot of pain! the husband borrowed me a compression sock.

➜ to keep moving my ankle, I sorted out the laundry a bit in the morning. but standing for a longer period was not very fun :') I put my knee up on the couch and rested a bit. I hope this doesn't affect my hike training too much this week! muhhhh.

➜ around 10 the pain was unbearable and I had to take painkillers. I read only that it's good to keep my ankle moving, so I wiggled my toes and ankle the rest of the morning. it made a huge difference! without moving I almost couldn't walk because my ankle was very stiff. with moving my ankle constantly, I could walk a little bit again, yeahh.

➜ I watched some series and did some Vinted shopping for the upcoming vacation at the end of the month. I was looking for some summer dresses and jumpsuits. I found some nice ones!

➜ in the morning I was thinking about calling my parents to pick up the daughter from school and bring her home. but with this wiggling I felt like I could do it myself. I left 10 minutes earlier than normal to give myself time to walk very slowly.

➜ the afternoon was for playing in the garden, doing laundry and working in the back garden. our olive tree got a haircut and D played with her Paw Patrol pups and the branches that came off. I had to tie small branches around all of her pups, because she wanted to make jungle pups out of them :D she's always so full of funny ideas! it was around 16 degrees so it was lovely to be outside!

➜ I have only been using Instagram for work related flower things and only open the app during my lunchbreaks at work. but lately I've been following more and more strong fitness women. that's also how I've found Dr. Claire, which I'm tremendously grateful for. because my knees are doing so much better! today I signed up for a 6 week 'lift and burn challenge' from another strong fitness women, cheryl coulombe. her new challenge starts April 27th, 3 times a week lifting weights for women over 40.

➜ in the evening I did a short upper body routine with the resistance bands. and I wanted to see how my ankle would do on the indoor bike. I managed to do my normal 20 min physio biking without any pain. it was looking good for the hike I planned for tomorrow!

➜ with the husband I watched a series and I tried to go to bed on time. the last days my bedtime has been around 11. that's a bit too late for me... so I will focus on going up earlier this week.

✶ exercise | 13 min resistance bands upper body + 20 min indoor biking

wednesday

➜ hooray, it felt like my ankle would be okay again soon. I had a hike planned today with the weighted vest. it was time to put more weight in it, so I added 2kg today. I made the hike with 6kg total. just a low pace walk to see how my ankle would do and to get used to this extra weight. I walked in zone 1 for almost the whole hike, so my body could easily handle it at this slower 5.3km/h pace.

➜ the workday was a bit less busy than last week, but we had still enough stuff to do.

➜ as I'm filling my weekly in days later, I don't remember that much about my day anymore :')

✶ exercise | 4.25 km rucking with 6kg

thursday

➜ from this week on, I've been noticing a difference in how hungry I am during the day. I feel like my body is screaming for more food! so I had to change my diet a bit.

➜ I've been reading up a lot on protein intake, and added more to my diet. I added a small bowl of skyr next to my usual breakfast sandwich in the morning (instead of only 1 bowl in the evening to prevent snacking). this has worked great to keep me full longer and not being hungry when I'm at work around 11 already. I also started using spirulina, because this is very high in protein. let's see the results in some days/weeks!

➜ in the evening I did my Dr. Claire workouts again and I loved feeling stronger.

➜ I looked up the resort we are staying at in Turkey in some days and got excited about our holiday! they even have a gym overlooking the pool, so I will try to keep my daily exercise routine going there.

➜ and it will probably be hard, but I want to try not to eat any sugar on holiday, just as I do at home. I have a good streak going and want to keep that!

✶ exercise | 45 min knee recover

friday

➜ yeahh, my Vinted orders arrived at the parcel shop. right in time for our vacation so I still had enough time to wash and iron everything. the weather in Side (Turkey) looks great btw. the week that we are arriving it will probably be around 23-25 degrees, yeahh!

➜ after work I went rucking in the evening. we had a family weekend planned, so this would probably be the only time I could get some moving in. I upgraded from 4 to 6kg on Wednesday and went for the second time with 6kg. it was just a 5km walk in a 5 - 5.5km/h pace, so it was doable. but just right after 2 workdays.

✶ exercise | 5km rucking with 6kg

saturday

➜ it was the first time in 3 weeks, biking to work on Saturday morning and not getting wet! hooray!

➜ the workday was okay. luckily a bit more busy than the days before. and after I got home, we directly left to the grandparents in Germany.

➜ the grandparents made us homemade pizza (yum!) and when D was in bed, we watched Deutschland sucht den Superstar (a singing show).

➜ I was soooo tired, so I was happy when I could hit the bed around 11.

✶ exercise | rest day

sunday

➜ we all got up early today, because we had some driving to do! today was the communion of our littlest nephew in the Sauerland.

➜ after trying to sit still one hour in church, we drove to the house and celebrated with all the families and friends. the nephew had a lot of gifts to unwrap, we had good food and a great time. in the background we watched 2 fussball games and paris-roubaix.

➜ today I allowed myself to eat some sweets. I thought, if I break my non-snacking streak, than this is a good day to do it ;) I had a delicious solero inspired kuchen that was really really yummy. and a vegan muffin, also very yummy. and I was proud of myself for just drinking water, and not any soda. yeah!

➜ around 6 it was time for us to leave, because we had a 2.5-3 hour drive home ahead of us. D had school in the morning again, so I didn't want to leave too late.

➜ after a fries pitstop at the motorway we got home around 21:00 and D slept at 21:30.

➜ I cleaned, watched one episode and also went to bed. it felt like a really lazy weekend without sports. but that's probably good to let my body recover. we had a good time with family, that also counts for something! :)
