this was week 25

a quick little update about my week...

➜ on Tuesday I visited Fleur to get my new tattoo. she took her time adjusting the design perfectly to my arm and started tattooing. it's 2/3 done and I have to go one more time to finish it. it was a lovely experience, because we seem to have so much things in common! we had a great chat and I felt so at home with her and in her studio ♡ it was a very valuable day for me in more ways than one. oh and of course I LOVE my tattoo! ♡

➜ we are in the midst of a VERY long heatwave here.. 30+ degrees for 2 weeks straight. and on some days it goes up to 37 degrees, ugh. that means a challenging time for my body. I don't function well when it's so warm. days of headaches that turn into migraines and just feeling sick overall everyday. no fun!

➜ the only hike I managed to go on was on Monday evening, the last day the temperature was still okay. I saw some bees and poppy's.

➜ heatwave also means no sports. hiking is something my body needs to function, I need to move to get the pain down... and I could go in the morning when it's still relatively cool. but I just don't want to risk getting a migraine. even when it's 25 degrees in the morning, the warm thick air can already be enough to get it going. so more rest for me until the temperature goes down again. it makes me feel a little lazy, but it's a good lesson in patience ;)

➜ it was great to be at work this week, because when temperatures outside are very warm, it's still cool in the shop. we usually have a temperature of 18 degrees (for the fresh cut flowers and plants). and in the heatwave we can keep it around 20-22 degrees, which is a lot better than being outside or in a warm house. it's my favorite place to be in this heat!

➜ on Friday my boss treated us to ice coffee, hmmm.

➜ visiting Fleur in her tattoo temple gave me the motivation to make a lino again (we talked a lot about making art). and I even decided to start up a new lino portfolio website. I'm still in the process of putting all my work on it, but I made a start. I'm fixing a domain now and when that's up and running I will share it here. for now you can check out my insta: thedoodlenoodlelinocuts.

➜ I'm also thinking of a new way of working with my lino's. I have to start my audience from scratch (the downside of deleting everything on social media is no followers when you start it back up again). and I want to do it right this time. and with right I mean: how it fits to me and my work. so I'm thinking of focussing on making art mainly (when the website is finished I don't want to spend too much time on the digital aspect). I want to focus on creating things that I enjoy, not worrying about social media. and I want to have a few times a year where I open my books for custom work. or work with batches. let's see!

➜ on Sunday we celebrated Father's Day and D was so happy and proud to give her work of art she made at school ♡ he got a cotopaxi cap and a bike-mountains-beer shirt
