things I was grateful for this week #2
In my journal I had a good streak going with writing down every week what I was grateful for. Somewhere in 2025 I stopped doing that, because I was experimenting with the way I journal. And I haven't started it up again. But I want to...
Because writing down the things I'm grateful for, opens my eyes to the small things in life. I call them glimmers: good, nice, beautiful things that you don't always notice if you don't pay close attention.
Writing down what makes me grateful, makes me appreciate all the good things in my life and even find appreciation for the not so good things. It helps me train to see them.
From now on I will try to write them down. Every week, every month... I will see how often. But I want to train my eye and head to find them more easily.
this week I was grateful for...
/ the snow! I never liked the snow, not even as a kid... like some cats, I would walk 5 steps out of the door (completely wrapped up in my ski outfit), to turn around and quickly go inside again. but this year I'm loving it! I think it helps that the daughter loves it so much. she showed me the fun parts of snow ♡/ seeing how often my daughter and her fellow kindergartners give each other a cuddle. it's so heartwarming to see how nice and caring they are for other people! it melted my heart ♡
/ having some extra time for myself one afternoon (the daughter had a birthday party after school), that I spent sketching new linocut ideas.
/ being able to celebrate the daughters birthday with family. how they all came to visit her (they had to drive 1.5 or 3 hours to see us), celebrate with her and spent time with us.
/ that the daughter already has several really good friends. play dates are being planned regularly and it is heartwarming to see that - even if they don't go to the same school anymore and live one village further - they keep remembering her and contacting her.
