BODY | it's day 3 with a stuffed nose, headaches and an overall feeling of blegh. oh and hello my old friend PMS.

some morning pages today to dump everything out of my brain onto my digital journal page... I've been staring at my editor for 30 minutes now, sometimes typing something, erasing it, typing something new. my thoughts are as stuck as my stuffed nose ; ) it's not flowing out as it normally does... so this will probably take me way longer than I want, but it's also a sign that my brain might actually need it!

DISCLAIMER.... a small warning before reading on: this is me dumping all things on here to get more headspace. some people might think 'oh myyy you are a master at complaining, girl'! but that's what morning pages can be sometimes, getting things out of your system.

my body is asking for a rest

the last three days my nose is getting more stuck, so I'm putting all the energy I have into trying not to get really sick. that means dropping most of my plans, sleeping early and taking tablets to keep my sinuses open. at least, on the days I can. today is a day like that.

last weekend we made a trip to Germany to see the grandparents and go see the carnaval parade. that was the only carnaval we had this year (and also enough for me, as someone who doesn't really likes celebrating).

a weekend away always means being out of my normal routine, so I didn't manage to keep up my physiotherapy exercises. I was glad I could start them up again, because I want to make progress with my knee.

on Monday the exercise bike I ordered was delivered. the husband and daughter built it and on Tuesday I did my first 30 minute 'ride'. after the bike ride I did the stretches and exercises with the resistance band. boy oh boy did my body feel tired. I am starting to resent the 'claw' because it burns so badly. but, it felt good to start the exercises again. and I will hopefully start to make progress soon, too.

working on getting my knee in good health is motivating me to move more. so on Tuesday evening I made plans to go for a walk today. the husband could drop me off in the neighboring town, where the daughter is visiting the grandparents. I could get some groceries and walk 3 kilometers back home. something I was looking forward to. but my body had other plans this morning.

my body just feels exhausted, my nose got a little worse and the headache is joining me for another day. the muscles I trained yesterday feel sore. something that is part of the recovery I guess. but all things combined call for a serious rest day.

it also needs balanced hormones

something else that is driving me crazy for the last 6 months or so, are my hormones. I wrote about it before (here), how things are changing now that I'm getting older. my PMS struggles are getting more intense. and this week I had my tipping point... this is not something I'm tolerating any longer, something has to change!

so this morning I took the time to research what the best ways are to balance hormones. next to exercising, eating healthy and avoiding sugar, caffeine and alcohol, there is the option to start taking supplements that support hormone balance. a fairly easy way to try, so that's what I will do.

here's the supplements I will start to take daily
a mix of monk pepper, maca and ashwaganda
> promotes normal and regular menstruation
> balances hormones
> lowers cortisol levels, promotes the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and GABA, which contributes to an improved mood and a sense of well-being.
> supports irritability before menstruation
> helps with mood swings during menstruation

a mix of mentha spicata, pantothenic acid, vit A/C/D3/E, zink, selenium, copper, black pepper
> for regulating talc production
> inhibit inflammation
> less skin outbreaks
> less redness

I will give my body 3-4 months time to wait for results. let's see how this will go! now back to my chocolate ;)
